I did not care for the metal springs in the middle so I removed themThese seem like really nice quality pliers for the price. I use them for wading in the creeks so it's crucial that they have the holes in the handle to attach a bungee or lanyard. The jaws and cutters seem like good quality and tight. The handles seem like they will grip even when my hands are wet. Nice to be able to attach a lanyard to the pliers (and my kayak) as it keeps them from falling overboard.If you've ever had a Pike bit down on your fingers while you try to remove a hook you'll appreciate the Extra Long Reach these pliers provide.Build quality is first rate and the wrist straps works great to make sure you don't accidentally drop the piers in the lake.The Spring mechanism on these pliers is really stiff when brand new. I'm hoping the spring will wear down a little to make these pliers easier to grip and press but overall I'd rather have a stiffer spring and weaker one.If you're looking for an Extra Long set of Pliers to remove hooks from Pike and other large fish I'd definitely recommend these Berkley's.I build my own lures and use a lot of different split rings and these do not work on any of them.Decent little knife, but blade is too stiff for good filleting.
